It's time once again to break out your big sun hats, spring ties, and seersucker suits.
Grab a mint julep and join in the steeplechase cheering - Gold Cup is here!

This world famous steeplechase event is a grand spring tradition and a fixture of the Washington social calendar.  Run in Fauquier County since 1922 and attended by over 45,000 guests, this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the state of Virginia.  Gold Cup will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, from 10AM - 5PM. The Kentucky Derby will be shown on the big screen at the end of the races.

This year the Villanova DC chapter will be anchoring a Rail Side Reception tent offering catered buffets and open bar all day.  Villanovans from the 1960's, 70's, 80's 90's and 00's all attended last year - our best attend year to date.  This will be Villanova's 6th year participating in Gold Cup and ticket have sold out for our tent every year.  In 2007 our tickets sold out in record time .

Because The Plains is approximately one hour from the DC area, we will also offer round trip bus transportation to and from departing from Arlington, VA (Ballston Commons - Balllston Metro Stop). Check in begins at 9:30AM with the first busses departing at 10:00AM (last bus leaves at appx 11:30AM).

Proceeds from this event will fund the DC Chapter scholarship that will be awarded to a current Villanova student from the DC metro area at the New Student Reception held over the Summer '08.
