Letter From the President
Welcome to the web site for the Greater Washington, DC Alumni Chapter of Villanova. We have recently reorganized the Leadership Team in an effort to re-energize the local Alumni Chapter. There are over 1500 Villanova Alumni in the Washington, DC Metro area and our chapter has a strong group of leaders who are eager to further develop events which connect the local Chapter Alumni back to the University.
I would like to share with you some of the upcoming events we have planned. Please check out the DC Chapter events on the Events Calendar Page as well as chapter meeting schedule on the Leadership Team Page.

Villanova Alumni Tent at the 83rd Running of the Virginia Gold Cup
This year we will once again sponsor our catered - full open bar rail side reception tent at the Virginia Gold Cup Steeplechase races, Saturday May 3, 2008. We will provide bus transportation from Ballston, VA to The Plains, VA (appx an hour away). So break out your sundresses and seersucker suits, grab a mint julep and join in this Virginia tradition with fellow alumni. Open to all ages (proper ID required to consume alcohol). Tickets will go on sale in Mid April. Our Tent has SOLD OUT every year - so get your tickets ASAP.
Co-ed Villanova Alumni Softball
The weather is getting nicer and the sun is staying out longer and that means it's time for the return of VILLANOVA ALUMNI CO-ED SOFTBALL SEASON in the DC Metro area! It is time to bust out the bats and gloves and get going. Alumni of all ages and skill levels are invited to come out and play some softball games this spring/summer. The season runs from the end of April until early August and consists of ten weeknight games and 4 weekend games followed by a year-end tournament. Most regular season games are played with a great backdrop within a few blocks of the Washington Monument. You play in as few, or as many games as you'd like. Our team, and the league, are very social and the team usually goes out together after the games. Everyone is welcome, to come out and give it a try.
Here is some info on the league: CAN (Capital Alumni Network) Softball League has been active since 1997. The league is made up of college alumni chapters from around the nation. This year the league has expanded to 70 teams made up of Alumni from each school and promises to be another exciting and fun filled year. Last year Villanova place 3rd out of 62 teams that participated.

Co-Ed Alumni Volleyball
New in 2008 - VU Alumni Volleyball. Join this co-ed alumni volleyball team as we take on different university alumni chapters. Games begin January 27th and are held on Sundays at National Cathedral School 3612 Woodley Road (corner of Woodley and Wisconsin - next to the National Cathedral. This team is open to alumni of all ages. To play contact the alumni coach Matt Morgan.
