Co Ed Alumni BASKETBALL

Villanova will once again be fielding a team in the Capital Alumni Network's (CAN) Co-Ed Basketball League which has over 30 colleges and universities represented in the league.  Our games are once a week on a designated weeknight from the beginning of January to the end of March, with the playoffs being held during the first week of April.  Games are under an hour and start at either 7,8, or 9pm and are held in public school gyms in Alexandria , VA.  Our opponents this year are the DC alumni chapters from Georgetown, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, South Carolina, Syracuse, William & Mary, Wisconsin.  Alumni of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to come out and play.  We are a very social and friendly group.  Everyone who comes out will get to play and we end up fielding a pretty competitive team.  Our first game will be Monday, January 8th, but you can join anytime!!!

If you are interested and would like to play or just to get more info about us, you need to contact/send your information to Coach Tim Smith '01 at: villanova_basketball@yahoo.com

CoEd Alumni SOCCER

There has been much interest in having a alumni Villanova Soccer team in the CAN Soccer League.  Our Coach Erich Molina  wanted to touch base early with you guys so he could see if there is enough interest to have a team in the spring.  To this end, he is asking for you to drop him a quick “YES, I’m interested” note based on the pertinent information below.  Much like the other alumni leagues, your commitment does not have to be firm and/or for every game.  Your response will be used as a barometer to assess general interest and availability to play in the spring.   He hopes many of you are interested as it sounds like a lot of fun.

WANT TO PLAY VILLANOVA CO-ED SOCCER SPRING ?
If so, send “YES” reply to Erich at villanova_soccer@isp.com
WHEN:  We would start late March early April, 2007.  Games will be on weekend days, likely Sundays, so it should not interfere with softball.
WHERE: Anacostia Park in Washington, DC
DIVISIONS: Premier or 1st Division – Premier is 11 v.11 (35 min halves) and 1st Division is 7 v.7 (25 min halves).
GENERAL COMMENTS: From the bulletin board comments it seems all teams had a great time playing…so we should join in the fun.  Erich would like to play in the Premier Division if possible.  They might create more division depending on how many additional teams join in.

Villanova Alulmni Softball Team Spring / Summer

It’s time for VILLANOVA ALUMNI CO-ED SOFTBALL SEASON!  Bust out your glove and come play some softball games this spring/summer on the mall.
CAN (Capital Alumni Network) Softball has been around since 1997. The league is made up of college alumni chapters from around the nation.  This will be Villanova’s 8th year participating in the league.  We are a very social group and we usually head out to our local sponsor bar after each game and socialize with the other teams in the league.

Games start in April and last until the beginning of August. We will play 10 weeknight games (once a week, with some off weeks) and 4 weekend games (2 Saturdays with 2 games each Saturday). Weeknight games usually start at 6:30 pm and last about an hour and half.  Our end of the year weekend tournament is a huge event and will be in the first weekend in August.  Alumni of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

In order to sign-up or just to get more information, please email Coach Ed Lafayette ’01 at: villanova_softball@yahoo.com

Villanova Alumni Co-Ed Flag Football

Summer is coming to a close, the temperature is about change like the color of leaves on the trees and that means the Return of Villanova Alumni Co-Ed Flag Football Season in the DC Metro Area. The games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays in Anacostia Park along the Potomac River against other DC Alumni teams. Villanova will be looking to improve on their Elite 8 Finish out of 70 teams from last year. Everyone is welcome, to come out and give it a try. Our team is very social and close knit and the team usually gets together after games to watch football games and relax.

If you are interested in playing, please email coach Rod Tolentino  '03.

The DC Chapter has found that a perfect way to rekindle that school spirit of years gone by is by getting involved in the Capital Alumni Network's (CAN) sports leagues.  CAN sponsors co-ed softball, baseketball, and flag football for all alumni chapters in the DC area to play against each other. The Villanova Alumni DC Chapter has participated in the sports leagues for the past few years and hopes to continue participation in the future.

In the past seasons we've had Villanova alumni from the past five decades come out and play on the various teams.
Please come out and play or cheer on your Villanova Alumni  team. Contacts are below.
